Strychnine is now available only under a mandatory stewardship and training program, and all users must meet the provincial requirements before purchasing or applying the product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What Producers Need to Know<br>\u2714\ufe0f Training is mandatory \u2014 All applicators must complete the Strychnine Stewardship Training program.<br>\u2714\ufe0f Use is highly regulated \u2014 Only in\u2011burrow application is permitted, with strict rules for carcass monitoring, species\u2011at\u2011risk protection, and record\u2011keeping.<br>\u2714\ufe0f Not everyone will qualify \u2014 Eligibility is limited to specific areas and conditions set by the Province.<br>\u2714\ufe0f RMs are not responsible for training \u2014 Training is delivered through SARM and the Ministry of Agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Where to Get Training<\/strong><br>SARM has launched the official Strychnine Stewardship Training Program, which includes the required modules, safety information, and certification steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udd17 Training details:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/sarm.ca\/strychnine-stewardship-training\/\">https:\/\/sarm.ca\/strychnine-stewardship-training\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Provincial Rules &amp; Requirements<\/strong><br>The Government of Saskatchewan provides full guidance on approved use, restrictions, and stewardship obligations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udd17 Provincial information:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saskatchewan.ca\/business\/agriculture-natural-resources-and-industry\/agribusiness-farmers-and-ranchers\/livestock\/pastures-grazing-hay-silage\/richardsons-ground-squirrel-management\/strychnine-use-in-saskatchewan\">https:\/\/www.saskatchewan.ca\/business\/agriculture-natural-resources-and-industry\/agribusiness-farmers-and-ranchers\/livestock\/pastures-grazing-hay-silage\/richardsons-ground-squirrel-management\/strychnine-use-in-saskatchewan<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you plan to use strychnine this season, please review the requirements carefully and complete the training before purchasing or applying any product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Gopher Control Program \u2013 2026\u201327 Guidelines Overview<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Gopher Control Program<\/strong>, delivered through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) and administered by <strong>SARM<\/strong>, provides financial assistance to help RMs, First Nations, and producers manage ground squirrel (gopher) populations. Eligible species include <strong>Richardson\u2019s<\/strong>, <strong>Franklin\u2019s<\/strong>, <strong>thirteen\u2011lined<\/strong>, and <strong>Northern pocket gophers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The program supports both <strong>registered gopher control products<\/strong> and <strong>non\u2011chemical predation tools<\/strong> such as <strong>raptor platforms<\/strong> and <strong>nest boxes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Program Details<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Funding is prorated among all eligible claimants, up to <strong>50% of eligible costs<\/strong>. The guidelines state: <em>\u201cProgram funding will be prorated among all eligible claimants to a maximum of 50 per cent paid for pest control product registered for use on gophers\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Strychnine is not eligible<\/strong> for rebate. Waste disposal container options include: 3 yard, 4 yard, or 6 yard bins with pick-up service once every 4 or 8 weeks. Ratepayers are responsible for payment of the empty fee billed directly from Goliath Disposal and the container rental rates ($15\/month) billed annually to ratepayers through the RM. RM of The Gap No. 39 residents can apply for a bin through the municipal office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/oursask.info\/rm39\/document\/form\/waste-disposal-agreement-program-application\/\">Waste Disposal Agreement Application<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gravel Sales<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ratepayers may request to purchase gravel from the RM for private use to be delivered to locations within the boundaries of the municipality. Gravel is currently sold to ratepayers at a rate of ten dollars ($10.00) per cubic yard for the first 50 cubic yards and at a rate of twelve dollars ($12.00) per cubic yard for gravel over the 50 cubic yard limit. The bulk water truck fill system is operated through a fob system.
