Settlement in the Ceylon district began in 1905<\/strong>, when early homesteaders arrived to break land and establish farms. The community took shape rapidly after 1910<\/strong>, when the railway line was constructed through the area, attracting businesses, services, and new residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ceylon officially incorporated as a village on September 26, 1911<\/strong>, marking the beginning of local governance and community development. Early structures such as the 1912 Ceylon Hotel<\/strong> remain important historical landmarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most memorable events in the village\u2019s past occurred on September 27, 1922<\/strong>, when armed thieves used explosives to rob the Bank of Montreal, escaping with approximately $16,000<\/strong> in cash, securities, and bonds.
