Our dedicated Reeve and Councillors work diligently to serve the community, uphold local values, and guide the RM toward a strong and sustainable future. Together, they form the backbone of our municipal government\u2014ensuring the RM remains a great place to live, work, and grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\ud83e\udded Reeve<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Reeve<\/strong>: Alastair Burnett<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Reeve is the head of the municipal council and represents the RM in both internal governance and external affairs. Key responsibilities include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Leadership<\/strong>: Providing strategic direction and representing the RM\u2019s interests<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Council Meetings<\/strong>: Chairing meetings and ensuring orderly proceedings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Public Representation<\/strong>: Acting as the primary spokesperson at events and with other levels of government<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Policy Development<\/strong>: Collaborating with Council to shape policies that reflect community needs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Decision Making<\/strong>: Leading discussions and decisions on budgeting, planning, and municipal operations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\ud83c\udfdb\ufe0f Councillors<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Division 1<\/strong>: Lane Carles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Division 2<\/strong>: Jeff Jensen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Division 3<\/strong>: Tim DeBruyne<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Division 4<\/strong>: Murray Scott<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Division 5<\/strong>: Austen Carles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Division 6<\/strong>: Ernie Sorensen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Councillors play a vital role in the governance of the RM. Their responsibilities include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Legislation<\/strong>: Enacting bylaws and resolutions that guide municipal operations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Policy Making<\/strong>: Developing policies that support community well-being and growth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Community Engagement<\/strong>: Listening to residents and ensuring their concerns are reflected in Council decisions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Committee Work<\/strong>: Participating in committees focused on areas such as infrastructure, finance, and community development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Collaborative Decision Making<\/strong>: Working with the Reeve and fellow Councillors to make informed choices for the RM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our Council is committed to maintaining the quality of life in the RM of The Gap and welcomes feedback from residents.
