Tax notices are mailed to the address we have on file.<br>If your mailing address has changed, please contact the office or email us at rmgap39@sasktel.net to update your information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\ud83d\udcb0 How Your Tax Dollar Is Used<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For residential and commercial properties, your tax dollar is split between two components:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Municipal Taxes<\/strong>: Set by the RM of The Gap Council<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Education Property Taxes<\/strong>: Set by the Province of Saskatchewan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Municipal mill rates and base taxes may vary from year to year. Please refer to your tax notice for current rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\ud83d\uddd3\ufe0f Payment Deadlines &amp; Discounts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To receive a discount on the <strong>municipal portion<\/strong> of your taxes, payment must be submitted <strong>before December 31<\/strong>.<br>Accepted payment methods include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cheque <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Online banking (please allow up to 10 business days)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\ud83d\udcb3 Payment Processing &amp; Discount Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note that <strong>payments are not considered received<\/strong> until the funds have been <strong>deposited into the RM\u2019s bank account<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are mailing a cheque, be sure to allow sufficient time for it to arrive at the municipal office and be processed <strong>before month-end<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Payments received after the cutoff will <strong>not qualify<\/strong> for the current month\u2019s discount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recommend submitting your payment early to ensure eligibility. If you have questions about payment methods or timing, please contact the municipal office<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Education property taxes are <strong>not eligible for discounts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\ud83d\udcca Provincial Percentage of Values<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Province of Saskatchewan applies the following percentages to assessed values:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Residential<\/strong>: 80%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Agricultural<\/strong>: 55%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Non-Arable (Grazing)<\/strong>: 45%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Commercial, Industrial, Elevator, Railway, Resource, and Pipeline<\/strong>: 85%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For current education mill rates, visit the Education Property Tax Mill Rates page &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saskatchewan.ca\/residents\/taxes-and-investments\/property-taxes\/education-property-tax-system\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Education Property Tax Mill Rates | Property Taxes | Government of Saskatchewan<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\ud83c\udfe0 Property Assessment Information<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA)<\/strong> provides property assessment services and maintains a public tool called <strong>SAMA View<\/strong>, where you can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Search property assessment details<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compare similar properties across municipalities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Access the tool here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sama.sk.ca\/sama-view\">SAMA View<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\ud83d\udd04 Revaluation Cycle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SAMA conducts province-wide property revaluations every four years, based on a new base year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The most recent revaluation was completed in <strong>2025<\/strong>, using the <strong>2023 base year<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The 2025 revaluation will apply these values through 2028, providing stable and consistent assessment for property owners.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Municipalities are required by legislation to use these updated values when calculating property taxes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The next revaluation is scheduled for <strong>2029<\/strong>, using a <strong>2027 base date<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sama.sk.ca\/\">SAMA website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\ud83d\udcda Additional Resources<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For questions about <strong>school taxes<\/strong>, please contact a member of the <strong>Board of Education<\/strong> or your <strong>Local Trustee<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To learn more about <strong>assessment appeals<\/strong>, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saskatchewan.ca\/government\/government-structure\/municipal-administration\/assessment-appeals\">Government Relations \u2013 Understanding Assessment Appeals<\/a> page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\ud83c\udfe1 Property Taxes &amp; Assessments \ud83d\udcec Tax &amp; Assessment Notices Property owners receive separate Assessment Notices and Tax Notices.
