Bylaws

📜 Municipal Bylaws

Bylaws are local laws enacted by the RM of The Gap No. 39 Council to help guide and regulate various aspects of community life. These bylaws are created to support public safety, maintain community standards, and ensure responsible governance.

🏛️ When Are Bylaws Established?

Bylaws are prepared when:

  • Council delegates specific responsibilities
  • Residents are required or permitted to take—or refrain from—certain actions under Section 8 of The Municipalities Act
  • Provincial or Federal legislation mandates that a matter be addressed through a bylaw

The RM of The Gap maintains several bylaws to preserve the character of our community and promote the safety, comfort, and well-being of all residents.

🚨 Bylaw Enforcement

The RM appoints a Bylaw Enforcement Officer to investigate potential infractions and ensure compliance. Enforcement activities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Enforcing weed control regulations
  • Responding to nuisance complaints
  • Investigating animal control violations
