📅 Upcoming Municipal Election Dates
Municipal elections are held every four years, with rural municipalities following a staggered schedule. The next general election dates are:

  • Wednesday, November 9, 2026 – Rural municipalities elect councillors for even-numbered divisions
  • Wednesday, November 8, 2028 – Rural municipalities elect councillors for odd-numbered divisions and the reeve
  • Wednesday, November 8, 2028 – Cities, towns, and villages elect mayors and councillors
    By-elections may also be held to fill vacant council positions.

Understanding the procedures that guide municipal elections is essential for both election officials and residents. The RM of The Gap No. 39 follows the standards set out by the Province of Saskatchewan to ensure fair, transparent, and well-managed elections.

👤 Candidate Eligibility
To run for municipal council, you must:

🗳️ Voter Eligibility & Identification
To vote in a municipal election, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have lived in Saskatchewan for at least six consecutive months before election day
  • Have either:
  • Lived in the RM (or on land now within the RM) for at least three consecutive months before election day
  • Owned assessable land in the RM for at least three consecutive months before election day
    🪪 What You Need to Vote
    You must provide proof of identity on election day. Acceptable ID includes:
  • Valid Saskatchewan driver’s licence
  • Valid Saskatchewan ID card issued by SGI
  • Any other government-issued photo ID that includes your name and address
